The name

The name “Mudam” is the abbreviation of the name Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean given to commemorate the reign of HRH Grand Duke Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg from 1964 to 2000, when he abdicated in favour of his son, Grand Duke Henri. The creation of a new set of typographical characters also served as the basis for the creation of the museum’s logo using the letters MUDAM.
