The building
The work of Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, the building fits harmoniously in with the natural and historical fabric of the park. The building is characterised by great banks of windows and finishing touches of honey-coloured limestone. It has a total surface area of 10.000 m2, including almost 4.800 m2 of exhibition and public spaces over three levels. Construction began in January 1999 with a budget of EUR 88 million.
