KBL Richelieu is proud to serve as a founding member of the Lyon Museum of Fine Arts Club.

The Club was founded in 2009 by 11 leading private-sector firms active in the Rhône-Alpes region of France to support the development of this museum and expansion of its permanent collection, which ranges from Egyptian antiquities to 20th-century works by artists such as Matisse, Picasso and Bacon.

The founding of the Club was inspired by the landmark acquisition of 17th-century French painter Nicolas Poussin’s La Fuite en Egypte (“The Flight into Egypt”), widely recognized as a period masterpiece. Jointly acquired by the Lyon Museum of Fine Arts and the Louvre at a cost of €17 million, the painting is today one of the highlights of the permanent collection in Lyon.

Since then, through the direct support of the Club and KBL Richelieu, the museum has acquired three works by Pierre Soulages and another by Jean-Honoré Fragonard.
